Ridgewood CERAMICS Studio: KEEPING IT CLEAN FOR MEMBERS & Students.

Updated: Jan 13

Myrtle’s Clayhouse is a membership-based Ridgewood ceramics studio that pairs easy access with a warm, hands-on community for people who love working with clay. We place a strong emphasis on keeping the studio clean, organized, and well cared for, because a clean ceramics studio is essential for both safety and creative focus. With open studio hours from 9 am to 9 pm, members can drop in to use equipment, practice techniques, or simply spend focused time at the wheel in a space that’s maintained with respect for the materials and the people working in it. Below, we outline what membership offers, how to make the most of open studio time, the cost and commitment details, and how we build a lively creative community. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been throwing for years, this guide will help you get more from your pottery practice.

What Are the Benefits of Keeping a Clean Studio?

Keeping our ceramics studio clean is essential to how we work and how we care for one another at Myrtle's Clayhouse. Clay, glaze materials, and dust are part of the process, but when they’re managed thoughtfully, the studio becomes a safer, calmer, and more enjoyable place to create. A clean workspace protects everyone’s health, keeps tools and equipment functioning properly, and allows members to focus on their work without unnecessary distractions. Just as importantly, maintaining a clean studio shows respect—for the materials, the shared space, and the people who use it—helping create an environment where creativity, responsibility, and community can thrive together.
