Course Description

All studio clay, tools and firings included in the price Beginner-friendly, all levels welcome. This 6 week course will cover and build a foundation of handbuilding techniques including coil, pinch, slab, surface design methods & glazing. Each week, class will begin with a 20-30 minute demo followed by your own creative exploration with guidance as needed. Special projects are welcome and keeping a sketchbook for loose conceptualization is encouraged. You'll leave this session with a solid understanding of the full process from initial building to final glazed work and a well-rounded skill set to continue on in your practice. 60-21 Myrtle Ave | Ridgewood, Queens 6/10-7/15 Wednesdays 6:30-9pm *Students can expect to complete approximately 3–4 finished pieces during the course. Please note that for any individual piece measuring 12 inches or more in any direction, additional firing fees will apply: $0.03 per cubic inch for bisque firing and $0.03 per cubic inch for glaze firing, per oversized piece. Classes are focused on learning and skill development—not production. We encourage students to explore techniques thoughtfully and enjoy the creative process. Cancelations must be before 6/5 to be eligible for a refund. $25 Cancelation fee. Teacher Bio: Pam is a visual and ceramic artist based in Queens. She creates functional, sculptural ceramics using a mix of handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques. Inspired by animals and the natural world, she loves sculpting creatures to add playfulness and character to everyday items.
