Course Description

Studio clay, Glazing, Kiln Firing and Tool Usage Included in the Price. Class overview: This 6-week session will be all about the basics of wheel throwing. This class is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! Studio Practice Time Included - you will receive a signup link when the class starts 60-21 Myrtle Ave, Ridgewood, Queens Sunday Mornings 10/4-11/8 | 10:30am -1pm | *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. Teacher Bio: Madeleine Roslow is a Brooklyn-based ceramic artist and educator with over a decade of experience working in clay. She holds a BFA from SUNY Purchase and creates playful, colorful, and surreal ceramic work that explores identity, joy, and whimsy. In class, Madeleine brings the same sense of creativity and curiosity, encouraging students of all levels to experiment, and have fun with the process. Her classes focus on building and throwing skills while embracing each student’s unique voice and vision. Cancelations must be before 9/28 to be eligible for a partial refund ($25 cancelation fee). No Cancelations or refunds once the class starts. All of our makeup sessions (except the last class - glazing) are non-instructed. Unfortunately, it’s not possible for us to fit all makeup students into regularly scheduled instructor-led classes. While we offer makeup sessions as a courtesy for students who miss a class, we can’t guarantee a makeup. 1 Make-up per multi-week session.
