Course Description

Studio clay, Glazing, Kiln Firing and Tool Usage Included in the price. Class overview: This class is great for first timers as well as students who are more advanced. We will start by mastering the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! 60-21 Myrtle Ave | Ridgewood, Queens Mondays 6:30-9pm From 7/13-8/17 *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. Cancelations must be before 7/8 to be eligible for a partial refund. ($25 Cancelation fee) Teacher Bio: Christina Kanistanaux was decided to become a ceramic artist when she was sixteen and has been working, directly and indirectly, towards that since. In 2009, she packed up her two children and moved across the country and started college when her son started kindergarten. She has been in numerous exhibitions and was a participant in the Kiln2Table experience Winter 2016. In the summer of 2016 she was awarded with a scholarship for a summer workshop residency at Watershed in Maine. She attended the University of Arkansas and obtained her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Studio Ceramics in the spring of 2017. She now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Making work and teaching pottery once again.
