Course Description

Studio clay, Glazing, Kiln Firing and Tool Usage Included in the Price. Class overview: This 6-week session is great for first timers as well as students who have already taken a beginner class before. We will be starting from the very beginning to master the fundamental processes, including: wedging, centering, throwing cylinders (and other forms), trimming, and glazing. There's absolutely no pressure to have any experience or have it all figured out. Come to class with an open mind and we will work through your goals together to make some beautiful, unique pieces! 60-21 Myrtle Ave, Ridgewood, Queens Thursday Evenings 6:30-9pm 9/3-10/8 *Students can expect to finish around 5 pieces by the end of the course, with a maximum of 8 pieces to take home. Please remember that these classes are designed for learning and exploration—not high-volume production. We encourage a focus on skill-building and creative growth. Teacher Bio: Susannah Wilson (they/she) As a teacher, Susannah encourages their students to try, fail, and try again, remaining open to the creative opportunities that mistakes might offer. Besides teaching wheel she has also worked as a studio technician and as an assistant to a production potter. As a trained Actor, Susannah delights in the tactile and permanent nature of ceramics, which is so distinct from the ephemeral work of performance. Susannah holds a BFA in Acting from Emerson College. When not at the wheel, you can catch Susannah on stage, or racing around Brooklyn on her bike. @stoneware.x.sw www.stonewarexsw.com Cancelations must be before 8/27 to be eligible for a partial refund ($25 cancelation fee) All of our makeup sessions are non-instructed (except the last class - glazing which is instructed) .
